Fresh Starts: New Moon, Spring Equinox, Mercury Direct
Welcome back to the Essential Astro Cast.
I am your host, Veronica
Perretti, and this.
Is the podcast you listen to when
you want to know what's going on in
the heavens so that you can dictate
your feet down here on Earth.
I am so happy to be back with you.
My last recording was way too long ago.
It was on February 26th and that was
the day that Mercury retrograded, we are
sitting here three weeks later and Mercury
is about GE Station Station direct.
And if you are like me and everyone
else, I know you have had a very
murky, messy Wiley, crazy, overwhelming
disconcerting Mercury retrograde.
This was definitely one of the
thorniest Mercury retrogrades.
That I can remember.
Um, and that's possibly because Mercury
is in Pisces where it is not adept.
Mercury likes to express itself.
It likes to have words,
it likes to have numbers.
It likes to deal in the details of
things, and Pisces is about the vastness.
Pisces is about feeling things,
not necessarily thinking
our way through things.
So Mercury in Pisces, retrograde
is messy 'cause we're trying to
figure things out, but we are
meant to just feel our way through.
So my hope is that the audio is okay
because one of the reasons that you
have not heard from me for a while
is that along with Mercury retrograde
and eclipse season the construction
has been full on in my neighborhood.
So many of you know that
I moved to this house.
Three and a half years ago, and
it's a brand new development
and it's still being built.
So every once in a while we go through
a spurt of a lot of construction
noise and we are in that space.
Again, it was beautifully quiet when
I sat down to record this, and of
course now there's some rumbling going
on outside, so I hope that it is okay
and that you're not hearing that.
But I digress.
So.
We not only had the Mercury
retrograde, we also had Eclipse season.
So just to catch you up really quickly,
we had an eclipse on February 17th,
which was at 28 degrees Aquarius.
That one was pretty intense.
We knew that one was gonna be in pretty
intense, but then we had a second
one, March 3rd at 12 degrees Virgo,
and that was also really intense.
And the murky retrograde with the eclipses
being in that same sign of Pisces means
that the Pisces part of your chart has
just been going through major renovations.
The Pisces part of your chart
is getting a real once over.
One might think of it as a renewal,
a transformation, a makeover, if you
will, but it's been really challenging.
And because Pisces is a sign that's
associated with our emotions and our
connection to our spirit of our own
understanding, it can be really hard
to live in that space when you have to
also live in the modern world, when you
have to show up to work on time and pay
for your bills and do all of the mundane
stuff that we have to do in this modern
world, which is very earth energy.
When that water energy is like, Ugh,
I just want to escape to the couch and
watch endless tv, or I want to go and
lose myself in a meditation, or maybe
just take a vacation and get out of here.
But that feeling of wanting to
escape or let go or surrender or
not be bogged down by obligation.
All is very resonant for all of this
Pisces energy that we're working with.
So Pisces, of course, is water.
Which means that things have been murky.
They've, it's been foggy, it's been messy,
as I said, but the tide is indeed turning.
So we have a new moon this week.
We have a new moon in Pisces.
So the last few new moons for maybe, I'm
not sure how many months now, five or
six months, have been at the end of the
signs, which is always really interesting
because a new moon at the end of the sign.
It is a fresh start, but it also
brings a feeling of endings and met,
and several of the last ones have
been at 28 degrees, so we've been
feeling this sense with every New Moon.
That we're being asked to wrap something
up, we're asked to bring something to an
end, and I've been feeling this for sure.
I also am about to have my
solo return, AKA, my birthday.
So every year when the sun comes back
to the spot where it was when you
were born, you have your birthday.
But in astrology land, we
call that your solar return.
And every year the solar return
offers you that chart of that
moment when the sun comes back to
where it was when you were born.
It offers you a chart that gives you
a glimpse of what this year of life
is going to be like for you, what
themes you're gonna be working with.
I haven't dug into my solo return
chart too much yet, but I always
get this feeling right before my
birthday where I just want to clean
everything out, clear everything out.
So of course today I ended up doing some
impromptu closet clearing and cleaning.
And that of course aligns with,
spring cleaning, spring equinox.
But that vibe, that energy of,
let's clear this out before.
Spring is certainly here this week
with the New Moon at the very end of
Pisces and the spring Equinox upon us.
So.
The three things to really look for
this week, the new moon that we are
having on Wednesday the 18th, and then
we will have Friday the sun enters
Aries, a k, a, the spring Equinox, AKA.
The beginning of airy season,
AKA the end of winter and the
beginning of spring, which also is
the beginning of a new zoia year.
So spring equinox is, for me at
least, it's what I consider to
be the new year astrologically.
So that is exciting because that
will certainly shift our energy
and that is coming on Friday.
And along with the spring equinox
on the very same day, we have
Mercury stationing direct.
So first let's talk about that new Moon.
So the New Moon is in Pisces
at 28 degrees, as I mentioned.
It's going to be kind of cleaning out
this murky, messy time that we've been
in because this New Moon is the first Loo
Nation after that eclipse that we had.
So the First Loo Nation after.
The last eclipse, whether it be a
new Moon or a full moon, is what
officially ends eclipse season.
So we will officially be done with
Eclipse season on Wednesday the 18th, and
it's preparing us for this new season.
It's preparing us for spring.
It's preparing us to move into that
energy of coming out of hibernation and.
If you're like me, this Mercury retrograde
had me really wanting to hibernate.
Unfortunately, I was not able to because
I had a lot of things going on and I had
my son's birthday 'cause he's a Pisces
and so many other life obligations, but.
The desire for hibernation
was certainly there.
But spring equinox, you know, think
about this time of year as we move
into airy season, you start to see the
tulips pushing through the soil, and
you just start to see that glimmer of
green as those bulbs that were planted
start to push through the swale.
And that takes a lot of energy for
that bulb to push up through that hard.
Soil that is still semi frozen from
winter, especially this winter.
We had a lot of snow, a lot of cold days.
So we are going to have to,
put on our pants and put on our
sneakers and do the hard work of
pushing out into the world again.
And that is the essence
of this time of year.
And for some of us it's welcomed.
And for some of us it's not.
But I think this week the shift
in energy will bring back some
motivation that perhaps you've been
lacking, and we will start to get a.
And excitement for getting back
out in the world and getting
back out and doing things.
So the New Moon itself isn't a
sex tile to Uranus, which is an
invitation to embrace change.
It's an invitation to
do things in a new way.
So maybe the way that
you've been doing stuff.
Has become apparent through the
eclipses and through the Mercury
retrograde that it's not working.
Whatever it is.
Maybe it's your habits, maybe it's your
routine, maybe it's your relationship,
but there's something that's begging for a
shift, for a change, for a new page to be
turned, and this new Moon is offering you.
A little bit of help in making that
change with that sex tile to Uranus at
the late degrees 28 degrees of Taurus.
Now Uranus, later this year, we'll be
moving into Gemini and that will be a
whole new energy we'll be working with.
So this new moon being in that sex tile Ja
Taurus having all of this stuff in Pisces
that we've been working with for the past.
A few months, really few years
because remember Saturn was
in Pisces for three years.
Saturn newly has gone into
Aries for the next three years.
That was a few months ago, so
we are, or not a few months ago.
That was February, but it
feels like a lifetime ago.
With that at, we have done a lot
of work in this Pisces house.
As I said earlier, not only in the past.
Three weeks of Mercury retrograde,
not only in the past two years of
having eclipses in this space since
2024, not only since March 23 when
we had Saturn move into Pisces.
So really since March 23,
we've been working with.
Coming to terms with the responsibilities
in this part of your life, wherever Pisces
is in the chart, those themes, but I can
give you the overarching themes of Pisces
are always going to be about surrender,
letting go, being in flow, connecting
with the spirit of your own understanding.
Anywhere in your life where
you've been called to do those
things, it's being transformed.
So now we have this invitation
with this new moon to really wrap
it up, clean it up, clear it out,
Swiffer it, make it nice and tidy.
Put a bow on it.
Say goodbye and move on to the next area
of your life that you're gonna work on.
You know, for me personally, this
time of Saturn being in Pisces
was having my son, so I was.
Pregnant when Saturn went into Pisces.
And then my son was born in 23 so he
has a very early Saturn in Pisces.
And this, it's so interesting 'cause
he just turned three and he was
born 11 days before I turned 40.
He just turned three and I feel like
so much of my life is opening up now.
So many new opportunities and new ways
that my life is taking shape and taking
form as Saturn enters Aries, which is
of course, you know the sign that really
dominates my chart in a lot of ways.
But for you, just think about
the ways of the past three years.
What's been going on?
What's been the main story?
What's been the main headline that
you've been working with and what
do you have to tie up there this
week as we move into the next era?
And remember we talked back in
February about Saturn, Neptune joining
together February 20th and how that was
really preparing us for the new era.
And I joked that it felt like we took
this big leap forward and then we took.
We got pulled back.
It's like we took this, we charged
forward out of the gate and then, you
know, we ran into a rubber band that
snapped us back, and now we're snapped
back into the murkiness of Pisces.
But we are finally at that place
in the timeline where we get
to finally really move forward.
So I'm rambling a bit, but
the New Moon and Pisces again.
That Uranus is gonna help us
embrace the change that we're
going to have to make, and there's
a lot of change that is coming.
We also have Venus squaring
Jupiter in this chart.
So that means Venus squares Jupiter.
This week it perfects, um, the same day
as the New Moon on the 18th on Wednesday.
So that is part of this new moon chart.
So the Venus Square, Jupiter, Venus
and Jupiter are the two benefic.
They're the two brightest
stars in the sky.
So we love them.
They bring good news often.
But they also can bring too much and
too much of anything is too much.
So you might find that Venus, in Jupiter,
it just feels a little overwhelming.
Maybe everything feels like you're
being pulled in too many directions
like you are running on empty.
Maybe it feels like you have
too many social obligations.
Maybe it feels like you have too
many obligations to too many people.
Maybe it is that you have really, really
big expectations for yourself and you
need to take a moment to organize them.
What is the most pressing,
what needs to happen right now?
What can wait?
Venus Square, Jupiter.
It can be an embarrassment of riches, but
it can also lead to overwhelm and burnout.
So if you're feeling that or if
you're feeling close to that, or
if you reached it, like, I reached
it this weekend after hosting my
son's birthday it's okay to say no.
This is a week where.
It's okay to say no.
It's a new moon in Pisces.
You gotta take care of yourself.
Pisces is the sign associated with sleep.
If what you need to do is to shut
it down and sleep, then honor that.
But also Venus is square Jupiter.
So be aware that there might be
some opportunities that crop up.
So squares are generally
challenging, but when we have the
two benefic squaring one another.
That's gonna be a little bit more
of a welcomed or friendly square.
But again, too much of
anything is too much.
So you could have an embarrassment
of riches, so many good invitations,
and you can't get to every party.
You're only one person.
So take that for what it.
And honor the blessing,
say thank you very much.
Express your gratitude and get quiet
and get in alignment with what you
and your spirit and your soul want.
All right, so that's the new moon.
All right, so next after that New Moon on
Wednesday, we go straight to Friday the
20th, and that is our spring equinox, the
beginning of the astrological new year.
The day the sun enters Aries, so
technically the sun will enter Aries
at 10:46 AM This is also international
Astrology Day for those who would like
to know, and Mercury will go direct
that day, and that will be at 3:33
PM Eastern Time, all Eastern time.
So I'm really excited for spring
equinox because we need a shift
out of the mud, out of the muck.
We will come out of this piy season
and we will really shake off the water.
It's like when you come out of the
ocean, you step onto the hot sand
of the beach and you instantaneously
feel your skin start to dry out.
That is going to be the
essence of this Aries season.
Remember that in February.
That first eclipse on February
17th was the lunar new year.
We entered the year of the fire horse
and we ended the year of the snake.
So this really feels like we're
officially shedding the snake.
We're officially shedding that
energy and moving forward and taking
off with that fire horse into the
future with this spring equinox.
Looking forward to that.
Looking forward to Mercury going direct.
One of the things to note
is that with Mercury.
He stations direct, but he still
has a post retrograde shadow.
So that means that through April
10th, we'll still be figuring out the
puzzle pieces of Mercury retrograde.
So Mercury stationed, he
went, he came forward.
He's stationed, he retrograde
back to eight degrees Pisces.
He'll station to go direct and
he'll resume forward motion.
That section of Pisces from eight degrees
to 20 something degrees is getting,
the once over the repaint from Mercury.
So we will feel Mercury.
Finally move direct 22 degrees was
where Mercury stationed to retrograde.
Um, he was stationed to go direct as I
said on Friday the 20th with a conjunction
to the north node, so he'll be hanging
out with the north node on Friday.
That's also interesting
because it's activating.
The eclipses 'cause that's where the
nodes have been for the eclipses.
The eclipses occur when a new moon or a
full moon happens near the nodes of fate.
And the nodes of fate have been at eight
degrees Pisces and Virgo, and that's
where they were for these eclipses.
So it really does feel like this mercury
station on Friday is going to be an
invitation from the universe for you
to take whatever you learned from this.
Mercury retrograde, period.
From this eclipse period,
the past 3, 4, 5 weeks.
And take that information,
unpack it, suss it out, journal
on it, look at your calendar.
What were you doing?
What were you spending your energy on?
Look at your journal.
Look at the photos in your phone.
What was.
Taking your attention, what was most
important to you and what have you
learned and what do you need to take
forward, and what do you need to let go?
That is the vibe of that station on
the same day as the spring equinox.
So this mercury retrograde, this eclipse
season, it's going to inform how we
move forward and how we step into.
Whatever is the next chapter
on the path of our destiny.
Because the nodes of fate always
have to do with honoring our destiny
and moving forward on that path.
And as I always say,
you dictate your fate.
So we have free will.
We make our choices.
We work with the energy that
we're given from the sky and
one foot in front of the other.
So that is, that's that's Friday.
And then this weekend as we start
to get acquainted with that sun and
Aries energy, we will have, um, we
will have the sun join with Neptune.
So when the sun joins with Neptune.
On Sunday, we will really feel our
collective consciousness awaken.
I realize that is a really big
thing to put on that transit,
but I truly feel that way.
Before we get to it though, on Saturday.
I left that out.
Mars is going to try in
Jupiter, so that's really nice.
They're both in in water signs.
Mars is in Pisces.
Jupiter is in cancer, but it's gonna
give you some confidence in how you feel.
So if you've been feeling really confused,
hopefully the Mars trine Jupiter will give
us some confidence in stepping forward.
And feeling, feeling in alignment
with the right next step.
Now, sun conjunct Neptune, which we're
working with on Sunday the 22nd, that can
make us feel like a little historically,
but the truth is the entire time I've
been studying astrology, in a real.
Disciplined since we've had
Neptune in Pisces because Neptune
was in Pisces for 14 years.
So I don't have a lot of data on
what it is going to feel like when
the sun joins with Neptune in Aries.
So this is going to be
interesting to see how this feels.
My feeling.
Is that it is going to be an
opportunity for awakening.
It's going to be an opportunity to
take action on what is in your spirit,
what is aligned with your soul.
And because Saturn and Neptune are still
sitting together very close, Saturn
has moved a little bit further forward.
The sun will conjoin Saturn next week on
Wednesday, and I really do believe that
as the sun makes this journey from Neptune
to Saturn from Sunday to Wednesday.
Pay attention to the news, pay attention
to what's coming up in the world.
'cause I do think that this is
going to be an invitation for
awakening, for collective action for.
Really making some moves
that we need to make.
So that is exciting.
That is exciting.
We had the Saturn Neptune
conjunction February 20th, kind
of felt like, as I said, we
got out of the gate in the race, but then
hit the rubber band and got swung back.
Now the sun illuminates those two
planets still residing close together.
And we get to see a little bit
more about what that Saturn,
Neptune conjunction is about.
What boundaries are we dissolving?
What structures are we creating?
How are we
taking.
Charge taking action on creating
the generational change that is
available to us at this moment.
And I know that it feels like
everything is crumbling 'cause it is.
And that is the essence of the
Saturn Neptune conjunction.
The last time we had, it was 1989
when the Berlin Wall fell, the wall
crumbled to the ground and we see lots
of structures, lots of systems that
are crumbling, and while we pick up the
pieces, it gives us the opportunity to
envision what we will build in its place.
And what is your part in that?
Process.
What is your purpose in this moment?
And all of us have a purpose.
All of us chose to be incarnated,
to be here, to be present in a human
body, on this earth at this time for
these transits, and to be part of.
Whatever, creating whatever the
next chapter of the earth will be.
So that's a little early Earth
month inspiration for you.
Um, looking forward to airy season,
drying out my brain from the fogginess of
Pisces season, unpacking the messages of
a mercury retro breeded and the eclipses.
And yeah, so I hope this was helpful.
I really want to do a better job of
showing up here more consistently
for you all that are listening.
You know that you can always find me.
By email.
Um, you can join my email list
by going to veronica preti.com
and right there on the homepage,
you can join my email list.
I will be teaching Wednesday
the 18th, which hopefully you're
listening to this beforehand, but if
not know that every month I share.
A Zoom call.
It's a free gathering.
It's called Cosmic Conversation.
We'll be doing it Wednesday the
18th at 5:00 PM Eastern Time
if you're listening to this.
After that, you can always go
on my website under events, and
there you will see the next one.
So I'm doing that monthly.
I love sharing that time with you guys.
It's so fun to get into the astrology
and talk about it and hear your
questions 'cause also hearing your
questions helps me figure out what to
talk about here on the podcast as well.
Alright, so that's what I got for you.
I will talk to you soon.
Take care and have a
wonderful spring Equinox.
Bye.
