Solar Eclipse in Virgo + Fall Equinox

Welcome back to the Essential Astrocast.

I am your host, Veronica Perretti,
and this is the podcast you listen

to when you want to know what's going
on up in the heavens so that you can

dictate your fate down here on Earth.

So earth is pretty wild right now.

The energy has been really intense.

We have so much news coming at
us at all times of day weekend

included, there is no rest.

The information overload
is real right now.

So if your nervous system is feeling
really amped up, give yourself time to,

step away from the phone, drop out from.

Keeping up with the news.

Give yourself space to touch
grass as the kids say, and.

Be with your thoughts.

Find some stillness.

Allow yourself to take a beat rest nap.

I am recording this while
my son is napping today.

I wanted to get this out
to you a few days ago.

I've been preparing it for a
few days and here we are on the.

Day of the solar eclipse.

So today's episode is really
about the solar eclipse.

That's the main news.

That's what we're gonna talk about
and I'll give you a little preview

of what to expect next week.

I am, I have been
overwhelmed energetically.

I'm sure you have been as well.

It took me several sit downs
to even figure out what to

say to you in this episode.

I hope what I have to share is helpful,
but know that if you just feel like your

head is in a psychic blender, that is.

The nature of this moment, that is
the nature of eclipses in general.

That is the nature of being in
the vortex of eclipse season.

So this is the second of two eclipses.

We had the first one on the 7th
of September, and this is the

second one, which is occurring.

Um, on the day that I'm recording
this, which is the 21st of September.

The actual New Moon will occur at
3:54 PM Eastern time and that new

Moon is occurring at 29 degrees Virgo.

Which means that it is 11
degrees away from the south

node in Virgo at 18 degrees.

Um, the south node is directly opposite
the north node as it always is, north

node in Pisces, south node in Virgo.

So the theme for this EC
series of eclipses is letting

go of the rituals, routines.

And ways of doing things that
are no longer working for you.

Virgo is associated with our routines,
with the ways we take care of ourselves.

We often look at Virgo to see
themes of physical health as

well as systems and organization.

Making things orderly is a
quintessential Virgo theme.

In society, we look at
Virgo as being the helpers.

So this is nurses and doctors and
people in our society that are

there to help us when we need help.

We could also think of Virgo as the
teachers and people that communicate.

Speak because Virgo, like Gemini
is ruled by Mercury, which is the

planet of communication and messages.

Mercury is the messenger.

So what happened this week in the world?

Metaphorically, they shot the messenger.

Jimmy Kimmel is the main thing
that we're talking about right

now in the world at this time.

And he is simply a symptom of a larger
problem that we're having as a society,

which is that the administration is
trying to silence its critics and we are.

I don't even wanna say tumbling
toward autocracy or tumbling toward

authoritarianism or any of that.

I wanna say we have officially arrived in
what some would call fascism and therefore

we are seeing this eclipse make apparent
what has already been happening, and

it is making it apparent to everyone.

It's not just.

The people that are paying super
close attention, and that's what

often happens in eclipses, right?

Whatever's happening in the
shadows becomes undeniable,

and that is what's happening.

Of course, many of us are gonna say,
what do you mean in the shadows?

I've been paying attention,
I've been seeing this.

I've been seeing us go in this direction.

Not everyone has, but the last week,
the events of the last week, the

unfortunate, tragic assassination, this.

Unfortunate, tragic
suppression of free speech.

These things are breaking through so that
the larger collective is made aware of

what has been very apparent to many of us.

So we are seeing it play out.

Who knows how it will go, but I will
tell you that eclipses are intense.

This eclipse season has been one
of the more intense ones that I'm

remembering, but it is a good moment to
remember that planets don't do things.

The astrology is mirroring
our experience on earth.

We, as I always say, dictate our own fate.

We have free will.

Therefore, the choices that we make
and the actions that we take are the

things that dictate our future, our
fate, and what kind of world we live in.

We look at the planets for patterns and
cycles that have come before historically.

And astrologers have assigned different
patterns and cycles to the planets

based on what has happened, and
those patterns and cycles tend to

be pretty reliable, and we're seeing
a lot of those play out right now.

We know that this year we're dealing
with this Saturn, Neptune conjunction.

Saturn and Neptune are moving
toward an exact conjunction that

will take place in February, 2026.

For all intents and purposes, they're
really, they really are conjunct

all this year, but it's not gonna
be exact until February, 2026.

And generally we see thanks to
the work of Richard Tarnas, that

Saturn and Neptune together often
indicates a time of despair, a time of

hopelessness and helplessness in the
collective, but it also paves the way.

For something new on the other
side, a reason to have hope.

So keep that in mind as we move through
the rest of this year, and also keep

in mind that you've already gotten
through some of the hardest astrology

of this year, the hardest astrology.

Was and is this summer because technically
we're still in summer when you listen

to this, it will probably already
be fall because the sun enters Libra

tomorrow, AKA, the fall Equinox, which
occurs when the sun enters the sign of

Libra, and it is one of the two days
of the year, spring and fall equinox

when the light and the dark are even.

So we have equal time with the sun
and equal time without the sun.

And I love equinoxes because equinoxes
remind me of one of my favorite principles

or ideas from the yogic tradition,
which is the bra, mata, and the bra.

Mata is the time of God.

And that is considered dawn,
and that is they say because

the light in the dark coexist.

So we can think of the
Equinox in the same way.

It is a time when the light in the dark
coexist and we are living in a moment

when the light in the dark are coexisting.

So there is so much goodness in the world.

There are so many helpers.

Thank you, Virgo people.

Um, Virgo is the sign of
the helpers, as I mentioned.

And unfortunately there's also a lot
of darkness, but we have to, as Mr.

Rogers says, look for the helpers, which
is one of my favorite quotes from Mr.

Rogers.

And as a mom of a toddler, I spend
a lot of time watching Daniel Tiger.

And since my toddler has a cold
right now, we watched Daniel Tiger

for hours this morning and there's
lots of wonderful messages in there.

And sometimes I think that if all of
America just sat down and watched some Mr.

Rogers or some Daniel Tiger, we would
all be a lot nicer to each other.

Okay, so back to the astrology.

We have this solar eclipse.

There's a few reasons that this solar
eclipse is particularly interesting.

Because eclipses are new moons or
full moons that occur within a certain

number of degrees of the nodes.

The nodes are these imaginary
points in the sky where the lunar

orbit and the Earth's orbit meet.

So when a new moon or full moon
occurs near those spots, we have an

obscuring of the light of one of our
luminaries, a solar eclipse, meaning

the obscuring of the light of the sun.

A lunar eclipse being the
obscuring of the light of the moon.

What's interesting is that generally
we have these series of eclipses

that occur in a pair of signs, right?

Because the nodes are an axis,
they're polarities, which means

that they're like a seesaw.

They're one opposite the other,
and they're always an exact

opposition to each other.

So that means that when we have these
series of new moons and full moons

that occur near the nodes, the series
of those eclipses occurring in those

signs generally is about two years long.

So the first eclipse that we experienced
with this Pisces Virgo Axis was in

September of 2024, September 18th, and
that was a lunar eclipse in Pisces.

Now, the nodes were still in the previous
signs, but because the full Moon was in

Pisces, that was a Pisces Eclipse, right.

So the, we also, the next one was lunar
eclipse in Virgo, March 14th, 2025.

Then we had a lunar eclipse just recently,
September 7th at 15 degrees Pisces.

So the ones in between were on
Libra and Aries because these

cycles overlap one another.

If that doesn't make sense,
don't worry about it.

All you need to know is that I'm
pointing out what makes this particular

eclipse unique, and that is that
in this series of eclipses that is

happening in the signs of Pisces and
Virgo, that will take us into 2026.

Or really 2027 I'm seeing this is
the only one that is a solar eclipse.

This is the only one that is a new Moon.

All other ones are full moons.

Lunar eclipses.

Now lunar eclipses are about seeing
what's in the shadow of that full moon.

When the full moon is obscured, that means
that the stars around it glow brighter.

Uh, solar eclipses are.

Darkening our light source.

They're making it the daylight dark.

So generally all eclipses are going
to bring into view something that was

not visible prior, but the
fact that this is the only.

New Moon, solar eclipse in this
series, I think is notable.

All of the emphasis being on the north
node in Pisces, all of the emphasis

being on the lunar side of the eclipses.

The moon is about our
emotions and our feelings.

The sun is about our identity and
our will and our determination.

So our vitality as well, we often find
that during eclipses people get sick.

And of course I told you
my son woke up with a cold.

He also just started
school, so not surprising.

But nevertheless, he is a Pisces and
he's got a lot of planets being impacted.

By this eclipse.

So his vitality took a little hit.

So with that, the focus being for
this period of time or these period of

eclipses being on the Pisces side of the
chart, being in the realm of feelings,

being in the realm of the full moon
is interesting that this is the only

solar eclipse, and so this has something
to do with identity and our will.

And our determination and how we
choose to show up and our life

force, our prana, our vitality.

Also, the other reason that I think this
is a particularly interesting eclipse is

that we had a new moon in Virgo as soon
as the sun entered Virgo this season.

So it was August 23rd, we had
a new moon, zero degrees Virgo.

And because that new moon occurred
right after the sun entered Virgo,

we are now having a second new moon
in the sign of Virgo at 29 degrees.

So we've had bookended new moons, so
we have bookends here at zero and 29

degrees, which are the two most intense.

Degrees of Zodiac.

So zero and 29 degrees of every
single sign is going to be

some experience of intensity.

Zero degrees being that pure fresh start,
29 degrees, being a feeling of crisis.

An end point, oh my gosh, I have
to do this right now, or I'll

never have the chance again.

That's the feeling that comes
with something at 29 degrees.

If you were born with a planet or an
angle, an ascendant at 29 degrees.

There's usually some lesson, some karma
that you're wrapping up in this lifetime.

And I'm a person with an ascendant at
28 degrees and 58 minutes, which is for

all intents and purposes, 29 degrees.

So there's something about the sign
of Aries, which is my ascendant,

that I am learning and possibly
for a final time, this go round.

There's something about 29 degrees
Virgo that's being activated

here with such intensity.

It's telling us that
this is a crisis point.

How we choose to prepare ourselves to
communicate, to find order, to structure,

to work with the systems that we have.

That's important right
now because it's a Virgo.

Remember, Virgo is ruled by
Mercury, which is the planet of.

Messages of communication, and as I
said, you know, we're metaphorically

shooting the messenger by allowing,
if you will, this violation of free

speech, which is the First Amendment.

So anyhow, politically it's just.

You know, the astrology couldn't
be more on the nose, if you will.

What I think is interesting
is that, mercury is in a wide

conjunction to this new moon.

It's under the beams.

It's combust the sun, which means that
mercury is being overshadowed by the sun.

And of course the sun collectively,
or when we look at history or we look

at the charts of nations, the son is
associated with the leader or the king.

Um, our ability to communicate
is being overshadowed.

We can look at it that way,
metaphorically speaking.

Okay, so I've been talking
for a while already.

Oh my goodness.

It's been 17 plus minutes here, so
I am going to get into the deeper

meanings of the astrology and how it is.

Showing up for you personally.

Okay.

So as I said, it's the only solar
eclipse in the series and this solar

eclipse, because it is with the
south node, it is about liberation.

It's about freeing ourselves from
something which makes perfect sense

because it is exactly opposite Saturn.

Saturn is at 28 degrees Pisces
because he has been retrograde.

So while he did get into Aries earlier
this year, he recently has made

his way back into Pisces and we're
finishing up some stuff that we've

been working on with Saturn and Pisces.

So Saturn has been in Pisces for like
about three years, a little more.

So we are finishing up whatever
business Saturn has in the

Pisces part of our chart.

So this new moon, solar eclipse
being exactly opposite Saturn.

Saturn is associated with
authority figures as well as

restriction and limitations.

So Saturn can be as.

Emblematic of an external force
putting restriction on you, but it

also can be your own limiting beliefs.

It can be your own limitations
or expectations that

you're putting on yourself.

I think a lot of this eclipse
story for a lot of us is about

letting go of getting it right.

Allowing ourselves to experience
life, not necessarily get so bogged

down in the details of getting
every single piece of it right.

There's a freeing ourselves of
expectations that perhaps aren't ours or

we're never in alignment with our values
because Venus is also newly in Virgo.

And she's making some adjusting
aspects to the outer planets,

the transcendent planets.

I think that there's something about
us adjusting our values, adjusting

where we put our resources, and we're
seeing that play out collectively.

I'm sorry.

Today, I just, I, it, there's too
much going on in the world for this to

not be a politically charged podcast
because the eclipse is so present

in what's going on collectively.

So letting go of getting it right
is one piece of it, but it's also

about going toward the north node.

So we wanna honor the routines and
the rituals that have supported us.

And we want to allow them to shift
and change so that we can be in

alignment with what is important
to us now, as well as moving toward

what is in alignment with our spirit.

Because the north node is in Pisces,
and Pisces is associated with our

spirit, Pisces is associated with
our subconscious and our unc.

So the, all of these lunar eclipses that
we're experiencing in this series of

eclipses are giving us the opportunity
to process the emotional experience

that we're having and to process the
emotions that are coming up from the

subconscious and the unconscious.

So all of that is leading us toward
a deeper spiritual experience.

All of that is leading us
toward a state of being.

In presence in the present moment,
not necessarily consumed with the

to-do list, which is the realm
of Virgo, but being much more in

alignment with how things feel.

So releasing maybe the things
that you wanted to check off the

list, but making your metric.

How does this feel?

How do I move toward the things
that are important to me and in

alignment with my spirit with action?

So I'm gonna repeat that.

'cause I think that's important.

How do I move toward the things
that are important to me and

the things that make me feel the
way I want to feel with action?

Because a new moon is about a fresh slate.

Setting an intention for how
you're going to move forward.

Now, of course, it's a solar eclipse,
so we're not doing manifestation,

we're not doing ritual work.

We're not doing.

Putting our agenda on the universe, we're
allowing the universe to talk to us.

That's the nature of eclipses,
but it's still a new moon.

It is still the moon and the
sun coming together, which is

the beginning of something.

So again, we are in this opposition
to Saturn, so you might feel

restricted, you might feel limited.

And that's part of the experience.

We're supposed to lean into that and
learn from it and take action despite it.

As I said, Virgo is ruled by Mercury.

Mercury is currently in Libra.

Mercury is creating a
grand trine with Pluto.

And Uranus, you may recall that Pluto and
Uranus are creating what I'm calling a

magic triangle with Neptune that we will
be working with from now through 2028.

With Mercury in the mix opposite
Neptune, they are creating a kite.

And a kite is a harmonious, a
aspect created in astrology.

Where the focal planet, in
this case it would be Neptune.

It's giving us an opportunity to
use the gift of the Grand Trine

and use it in a focused way.

Neptune is our dreams, Neptune is
our ideals, and the grand trine is in

air, which is about intellect, logic.

Rationale Speaking, teaching,
writing, expressing ourselves,

connecting with one another.

Relationships.

So utilizing all the gifts that you
have when it comes to those themes,

and then utilizing them as they
pertain to Neptune, which is moving

towards your ideals, your dreams.

The things that are perhaps
hidden in your subconscious

or unconscious, which is being
excavated by this series of eclipses.

Um, because Mercury is in Libra, which
is the pla, the sign that is ruled by

Venus, and Venus is in Virgo, which
is a sign that is ruled by Mercury.

They are, they can kind of
psychically switch places and help

each other out, so that is helpful.

But Mercury and Libra can be Mercury and
Libra wants things to be fair, it wants

everyone to get an equal slice of pie.

It wants everyone to be treated fairly
and justly, and so I think Mercury being

in Libra, being the ruling planet of this
solar eclipse, we are seeing a call for

that getting louder and louder and louder.

Okay, so what else did
I wanna say about this?

Mercury is also the planet of commerce.

So we're seeing people respond with
this response of economic boycott

canceling Disney plus canceling
Hulu, which we did yesterday.

Not shopping on Amazon, not
shopping at Target, um, putting

money in your local stores.

Um.

Local economy, uh, reconnecting offline.

These are all things that we've been
talking about a ton this year, if you are,

at least in my algorithm of Instagram,
getting off of social media, getting back

to connecting in person, creating clubs.

I created a Mahjong club this
year because I wanted to deepen

my relationship with my neighbors.

That.

Those are things that are really helpful
at this time, and because Pluto is an

Aquarius, which is the sign of communities
and social activism and coming together.

And that is something that we're
working with for the next 20 years.

It is not surprising that is
the tone and those are some of

the themes that are coming up.

Pluto while is also a.

In and out of sign trying to this eclipse.

So all those theme themes are coming
back to us because this eclipse is really

touching all of these outer planets.

So all of the major themes that we've
been working with this year and that

we knew we would be working with going
forward into the next few years, and even

20 years are getting touched on by this
eclipse, which is another reason that

this eclipse is particularly powerful and.

Potent and unique.

So those are some of the things I
wanna talk about with the eclipse.

One of the things that is not totally
related to the eclipse, but is

happening in the sky right now is
that Mars is at 29 degrees Libra.

And so, as I just said, Mer
Mercury is newly in Libra, but

Mars has been there and it's not
a place where Mars likes to be.

It is not his favorite sign, but
he's at 29 degrees, which as I said

to you before, is a crisis point.

Anything at 29 degrees is
really calling our attention

and saying It's now or never.

There's a drama to it.

And so Mars at 29 degrees is saying,
Hey, we have to look at the crisis

that is happening when it comes to
the law and justice and fairness.

On the other side, you could
look at it as Mars, the planet

of war, being at 29 degrees.

It means that there is a war against
the rule of law, justice and fairness.

Again, sorry if this is super politically
charged today, just can't help it

with what's going on in the world.

But we're gonna get into what else
is going on in the coming week, and

I'll give you a little snippet of
how that is going to feel for you.

I'm gonna give you a little bit of a
taste of what's coming up this week.

Um, Monday, September
22nd, as we get over this.

Solar eclipse.

We will have the fall Equinox.

As I said, sun will enter
Libra and that will also be

the beginning of Rosh Hashanah.

Happy New Year to those who celebrate.

Mars will enter Scorpio on Monday
the 22nd, which is helpful with

what's going on because Mars is.

The traditional ruler of Scorpio and
Mars and Scorpio, he is strategic in

creating a game plan, and he's fierce.

He knows how to make it happen
when he's in Scorpio and he knows

how to create some really valuable
ways of coming at a problem.

I am looking forward to
Mar's moving into Scorpio.

Um, as I said, the sun will enter Libra.

It will be the fall equinox that
will happen at 2:19 PM Eastern time.

On Tuesday the 23rd, the sun is
gonna oppose Neptune and Rine Uranus.

The next day on Wednesday,
the sun will trine and Pluto.

So as I said, all of
that is in the eclipse.

Chart.

We're feeling all of that with
the eclipse, but it'll perfect

as we move through the week.

So just because the eclipse is happening
on Sunday doesn't mean that you're

not going to feel it in the week to
come, and really you'll be feeling it

for a few weeks because it takes weeks
and months for eclipses to unpack.

We continue to.

See evidence of the eclipse and
continue to get information unveiled

to us as we move through the coming
weeks and months from an eclipse.

Um, as we get into, uh, Wednesday,
we'll have Mars Square, Pluto.

So look around Wednesday, really all week.

'cause all of this is going to
be evident throughout the week,

but Mars Square, Pluto, that is.

An aspect of war.

Whenever we see Mars and Pluto working
together, or in this case creating

friction together, we are going to
look at where there is discord, where

there is war or anger or frustration
or simmering resentment, because

that is going to exacerbate it.

So if you've got something going on.

Maybe you've been having something happen
with a friend or at work, you might find

that the energy bubbles, bubbles, and
then you have a moment of friction or

conflict on Wednesday or around Wednesday.

On the world stage, we have
so much friction, so much

conflict, so much discord.

Who knows how it will manifest, but
it will certainly be manifesting.

And I think as we're seeing
through the weekend, everything

is continuing to bubble with this
conversation around free speech that

we might experience some sort of.

Moment on Wednesday.

We might see other things going on
throughout the world that might reach a

fever pitch, although I'm not sure how it
could get even more fevered at this point.

But eclipses certainly take
us to that boiling point.

I used to say all the time that
eclipses are like a pressure

cooker, so whatever's going on.

It just gets amplified.

It just gets.

Quickened, the pace gets hastened,
so everything gets a little faster.

Everything gets a little hotter.

Everything gets a little more intense.

Of course, we're gonna have the second
eclipse, and then that will be the second

of two eclipses for this eclipse season.

Typically, eclipse season comes with two.

Sometimes we get three.

But of course this will be the second
and last eclipse for this eclipse season.

And then we'll have eclipses again in
six months when we get to Pisces season.

So with that said I do anticipate, and I
hope that the fever pitch starts to come

down as we move away from this eclipse
and we move deeper into Libra season.

So that's what I have for you today.

Again, I hope it wasn't
too politically charged.

If it was, I can't help it.

It just what was on my mind, what
I've been thinking about, how I'm

seeing the astrology of the moment.

I hope you are holding it together.

Remember, the most important
thing to do with eclipses is

to give yourself space to rest.

Space to take care of yourself, make sure
that you're eating well, and drinking

enough water, and getting enough sleep,
and taking care of your physical form.

'cause as I said, eclipses.

Do take a toll on our vitality and there
is so much psychic energy going on right

now that it feels like we are emotionally
mental, mentally, spiritually, in, uh.

A blender of sorts.

So really take care of yourself and
really ground yourself when you can.

If that means getting out and touching
grass, if that means just sitting

outside and enjoying a coffee, whatever
it is, that just makes you come back

to the present moment and connect with
your inner knowing or that feeling

of being in flow, even if it's.

For just one minute while
you sip a hot coffee or tea.

Then that is helpful, that
is useful during this time.

So I look forward to talking
to you again next week and hang

in there and we will talk soon.

Alright, bye.
