New Moon in Cancer begins a new chapter

Welcome back to the Essential Astrocast.

I am your host, Veronica Perretti,
and this is the podcast you listen

to when you want to know what's going
on up in the heavens so that you can

dictate your fate down here on Earth.

There's a lot that's been going on.

Life has been picking up,
momentum is moving forward.

Things are feeling simultaneously
optimistic and apocalyptic.

There's a lot of everything.

Everything is full force.

Part of the reason for that is that for a
while now we've had mercury out of bounds.

Mercury has finally come back inbounds
last week, and in the past few days,

we had the moon out of bounds and we
had a new moon in cancer yesterday.

So I am recording this on June 26th.

And we had a new moon yesterday on June
25th, so I wanted to get this out to you

as quickly as possible to set an intention
with this new moon energy still with us.

the moon will still be in
cancer all day on June 26th.

If you're listening to this today,
then we will have the moon move into

Leo tomorrow, but that will still be
helpful for setting your intentions

with the New Moon in cancer, so
you can really set your intention.

For any time within the first week,
even the first two weeks, but optimal

to do it within the first week.

And then, you know, my rule about
manifestation, and you know my rule

about intention setting, if you've
listened to the podcast for a while,

if you feel in alignment with the
energy of the moment and you feel

inspired to set the intention, that is
the time that you set the intention.

If you feel like your energy
is out of alignment and.

You're not sure and you're a little bit
foggy and you're wishy-washy, then that

is not the time to set the intention.

So I'm much more interested in
you being in alignment with the

energy that you want to align with
than what's happening in the sky.

But of course, we want to harness
that energy to lasso that energy

of the cosmos and let it help us.

So one of my yoga students who I
adore was like, I heard that this

is the best yesterday and today
are the best days of the year.

The luckiest astrology, it's
all super powerful, super potent

manifestation, all the stuff.

Okay?

So I kind of hate it.

When people get really into this whole
conversation of the luckiest day of

the year, and I often write an email on
the day that the sun and Jupiter come

together every year with the subject
line, the luckiest day of the year,

simply because it gets a lot of opens
and then people pay attention to what

I'm actually saying, which is that.

It's really hard to have one transit make
someday be the luckiest day of the year.

But yes, when the sun joins with
Jupiter and illuminates that planet

of Jupiter, which is the planet of
fertility, abundance, blessings.

We do consider that to be a, a good
time for manifestation, a good time for

being prepared when the luck happens.

You know, there's that saying.

Be prepared when the luck happens.

I think that's the saying.

And there's a great, I read Ina Garten's
memoir recently and I have to look up

the name of it, but I loved her book
and the whole idea of her memoir, is.

You are not gonna be able to
tell your good breaks from

your bad breaks sometimes.

And her book is called Be
Ready When the Luck Happens.

And I think that's a great way
of talking about astrology.

Be ready when the luck happens.

Be ready for the good energy,
but don't bank on the transit

doing the work for you.

Because that just isn't gonna happen.

And I don't like the conversation
of the luckiest day of the year

because it makes people feel like,
well, if I had a really crappy day,

is there something wrong with me?

And there's nothing wrong with you.

There's some really tough
stuff in the sky right now.

Yes, sun and Jupiter coming together is.

Wonderful.

We love to see it.

Yeah.

The new moon conjunct Jupiter yesterday
on the heels of that conjunction.

Great.

Having the sun, the moon and Jupiter
together as they are in the sky.

Or they were Tuesday and
Wednesday the 24th and the 25th.

I told you last week.

Circle those days and you know, maybe
do something special on those days.

Certainly it's gonna activate
whatever is already going on for

you, but Jupiter is the amplifier.

I want you to remember that no
astrology is inherently good or bad

because Jupiter, yes, it's wonderful.

it is an amplifier.

It is an expander.

It is helpful to grow things,
but not all growth is good.

Right now we're dealing with, um,
mold in our washing machine, growing

of mold in the washing machine.

More mold, not good.

We want less mold, so you
have to pay attention to is

this something I want to grow?

Is this something I want to amplify?

So I want you to think about that
this week as you set your intentions.

And more important, because this
is a new moon in cancer and cancer

is associated with nourishment,
with nurturing, with birthing life.

It is the mother, it is the womb.

What are you, cultivating?

Right now, what are you taking care of
and watering and feeding and making sure

that you're watering and feeding and
caretaking the energies and the people,

and the communities, and the projects
and the things that you want to grow,

that you want to amplify in your life.

So I want you to think about this week.

What feels nurturing and nourishing
to me right now, and how can

I nurture and cultivate and
amplify those parts of my life?

If you're on my newsletter email
list, you will get my questions that

I used for my own New Moon ritual.

So I send those out for, you know,
the New Moon and the Full Moon.

and then for my Yoga students and Cosmic
Yoga Club, we do this ritual together.

We go through these questions together.

So if you're on the email list,
you'll get those questions.

It's five questions and then an
affirmation that you craft for yourself.

Um, if you wanna do that ritual,
make sure that you're on the email

list and you'll get that information.

You'll get those questions each month.

and I'll be sharing those
today when I post the podcast.

So that is.

What I recommend doing, sitting down,
putting pen to paper and getting really

clear on what you wanna nourish, what
you wanna nurture, and what things

are nourishing and nurturing to you.

Because cancer is about, yes, being the
caretaker, but also being taken care of.

So I think of cancer season as
a great time to drop in and.

Put a little bit of your time and energy
on how you're taking care of yourself.

And I know self-care is a buzzword,
but I mean real self-care.

I mean, what do you really
need so that you can show up?

Because if you are not taking the time
to take care of yourself, whatever

that means to you, you can't show
up for the people that you love.

You can't be a caretaker.

You can't be, a mother, a
partner, a good friend without.

Taking care of yourself first, and
cancer season is always a reminder

to make sure that our cup is full, to
make sure that we're feeding ourselves

enough and we're getting enough
hydration and we're moving our body.

and so for me, I am thinking,
okay, what do I need to add?

What do I need to expand?

What do I need?

What do I need to amplify?

I know that I need to make sure that.

I'm moving my body consciously every day.

So yesterday it was the new Moon.

I said, okay, it's a new moon in cancer.

Cancer is the cardinal water sign.

I'm gonna hit the pool and do some laps.

That's one of my favorite
forms of exercise.

Something I did very consistently
before having my son.

And I need to get back to
doing that consistently.

'cause I know that it fills my cup.

I know that it makes me feel physically
good, mentally good, spiritually good.

It does a lot of things for me.

So I know carving out that time and
making it happen and getting the car

and going to the pool and doing all
the annoying stuff and dealing with

the parking and blah, blah, blah, blah.

That time, it's well worth that
work because it expands my energy.

So what do you wanna expand?

And what do you need to do that?

So just thinking about that this week
is really, really useful with this new

moon in cancer now getting into the
logistics of the New Moon in cancer, you

know, again, I really, I don't love this.

It's the luckiest day of the year.

Oh my goodness.

Everything is so wonderful.

It's perfect.

It's fantastic.

Yes.

Really wonderful.

Beautiful manifestations can come out of.

this new Moon, it is one of the
best new moons in a long time.

Apologies if there is some
noise in the background.

My cat is very needy today.

we had a two day long void
moon Monday and Tuesday.

So all day Tuesday, when the
sun and Jupiter got together on

the 24th, we had to avoid moon.

The sun and Jupiter were
answering to the moon.

And the avoid moon is like
the moon being out of service.

It's like you're on a back country
road and there's no self-service.

So the sun and Jupiter and cancer,
they're reporting into the moon.

That's the planet that rules cancer.

And the moon is like, oh.

Can't reach the moon.

I'm getting voicemail because she's
she's out of, out of service range.

So that's kind of how
Monday, Tuesday felt.

Monday, Tuesday was a little
bit, you know, in the fog.

We had a heat wave here in New York.

It was so perfect to have a heat wave
with this long void moon 'cause you

just didn't really wanna do anything.

And taking action during a void
moon can be really, Challenging.

I was thinking a lot about the
mayor's race in New York because

people are super excited about Zora
and Momani, or at least people in my

algorithm, my part of the internet.

And it does feel like a very big shift.

He's very young.

He's 33.

he will, Be a generational change in
terms of, the mayor of New York and

brings in a lot of fresh, new ideas.

Very exciting in my personal
opinion, based on my politics.

whether or not you agree with that,
I just was thinking like, okay, so

New Moon and cancer, sun, Jupiter,
but it was in the dark of the moon

that he was announced as the winner.

And I'm thinking, yeah, it's great.

It's Sun Jupiter conjunction day,
and we could chalk it up to that.

Yeah, but there's a lot of other
things going on in the sky, so why

are we putting so much on sun Jupiter?

Why are we putting so much on
Jupiter and the sun joining together?

I, that's what I was thinking and I'm
still thinking it through, and it was

a void moon when it was announced.

But I wanna say, when you make an
intention, when you set an intention

like we are setting right now.

After the new moon has occurred
because you set your intention

after the new moon has occurred.

The time right before the new
moon is the dark of the moon.

That's the time for releasing.

You don't eat the fruit the day
that you plant the seed, right?

You have to those of us, that garden, I
am not one of you, but I follow a lot of

people on Instagram who do garden, and
you planted your seeds for your tomatoes.

Months ago, right?

And now the tomatoes are coming
up and they're almost ready.

They're probably pretty green right now,
but you can see they're about to burst

and ripen and be perfect for your salad.

So you don't eat the tomato
the day you plant the seed.

You plant the seed.

You care for the seed, you care
for the plant, you water the soil,

you take care of it, you watch it,
you give it your love and energy.

And then eventually you have a ripe red
tomato to enjoy in your summer salad.

The Zora Momani thing is like,
oh my God, it was a lot of work.

He put a lot of work in.

He ran a really great campaign.

He was doing a lot of innovative things.

He was very present with
the people of New York City.

from what I understand, I'm
no longer in New York City.

I'm in Westchester, so
I'm a little away from it.

But from what I understand
from my friends in the city.

It was the campaign that they
were hearing from the most.

He was just the most
present in doing outreach.

So a lot of that work was
taking place over a long time.

This gets to my point, new moons are
not just, or astrology in general.

It is not just what is happening today.

It is what has been happening for a while.

So one of my, my first business
coach, Rachel Cook, used to say that

whatever's going on in your business
right now has to do with what you did.

Three months ago.

So what work did you do three months ago?

'cause now you're actually
seeing the, the results.

So it's the same thing
and the new moon cycle.

Yeah, we could look at the moon cycle
as four weeks, but I like to actually

look at moons through the, perspective
of an astrologer named Dietrich Pessin.

And she developed this
system with lunar families.

This new moon in cancer will be the
predecessor to a first quarter moon

in cancer nine months from now.

And that will be the predecessor to
a full moon nine months from then.

And that will be the predecessor to a
last quarter moon nine months from then.

And then finally there will be
another new Moon nine months later.

And so if you look at the moon cycle from.

Her methodology, which I have found to
be very, very useful in my own life.

You're looking at a three year cycle, and
when I look at this new moon, what I think

is so interesting is that this new moon,
it is in a square to Saturn and Neptune.

And if you've been listening to
the podcast the past few weeks,

we've been talking about Saturn and
Neptune joining together in Aries.

Neptune moved into Aries.

Weeks ago, and then after
that, Saturn joined him.

Saturn and Neptune have been together
for three years in Pisces, and now they

will continue to be co-present in Aries
for three years because Saturn takes

three years to move through a sign.

It is really very, very big time
astrology to have Saturn and Neptune.

Together for most of this year, their
conjunction will perfect in 2026, but

for all intents and purposes, we will be
feeling them conjunct this entire year.

And this is the first time
in our lifetimes that we have

experienced Neptune in Aries.

While Saturn joining with
Neptune, we have seen, we have

not seen them together in Aries.

So with that we had the Sun Square Saturn,
and then we had the Sun Square Neptune,

and that just happened this weekend.

So Sun Square Neptune was
actually on Monday the 23rd.

And the sun squaring Saturn
happened on Sunday the 22nd, and

that was a lot of what I talked
about last week on the podcast.

And feel free to go back and
listen to that episode if you

haven't, or you can listen again
for more on that specifically.

But what I wanna say is that the sun.

Squaring these two planets that are,
you know, moving together, moving.

They're so close together.

Not quite conjunct, but for all intents
and purposes, we are considering

them conjunct and the sun squaring
them, really illuminated what.

This story of Saturn and Neptune is
gonna be for us over the next three

years, having these two planets in
the sign of Aries, which we have not

experienced in our lifetime in this sign.

So Aries is a sign of the Warrior.

Aries is the sign of the initiator.

Aries is the sign of the pioneer.

So there's some newness there.

So I was thinking about it and
I thought, you know, all this

work that Zoran Momani put into.

This campaign for the New York City
mayoral race to become mayor, and

now he is the Democratic nominee.

He hasn't won, you know, the mayor's race.

He's just gotten himself into the general
election, all that work he's done.

And that generational shift we're
seeing is so much more about.

Saturn and Neptune and Aries and the sun
squaring those planets than it is about

the sun and Jupiter joining together.

And that's just my 2 cents.

And that's because Aries is
associated with being a pioneer.

Aries is associated with the youth, it's
associated with young and Young people and

the new guard coming in, the retiring of
the old guard and bringing in fresh blood.

All of that is are,
those are Aries themes.

The other thing about
Aries is that it is war.

I mentioned it's the sign of the warrior.

It's the sign of war.

It's the sign of masculinity,
it's the sign of impulsivity,

it's the sign of violence.

These are all themes that we often see.

See with Aries, it doesn't mean that
you are an impulsive, violent person.

If you are an Aries.

We're talking about mundane astrology,
we're talking about the collective energy.

I am a person with a ton
of Aries in my chart.

some of those things apply
to me, not all of them.

And it's really exciting to see
someone young, with fresh ideas whether

or not you agree with all of them.

And that freshness, that's that optimism,
that excitement, that idealism, that

looking to the future, all those
things could be considered Aries.

You know, Aries is also often looked
at as the fool in tarot, the fool.

Is dancing off the cliff doesn't
even know that the cliff is

there because he's so innocent.

He's so naive that he doesn't
realize anything bad can

happen to him, and that is

in alignment with the.

Archetype of Aries.

You know, this idea of Aries
is the first Zodiac sign.

It doesn't know to be scared, so it raises
its hand and says, Hey, I'll go first.

And that braveness, that
disregard for, any possible risk

is inspiring to other people.

And maybe it doesn't always work
out, but the risk taking itself is.

Invigorating.

So that's what I have to say about,
you know, that whole thing going on.

And I've just been watching
it and thinking about it.

And I wanted to say a few words about
it, and I now, I rambled a lot, but

I hope it was interesting to you.

We're gonna get into the
astrology more deeply now.

so the new moon is in a square.

To Saturn, Neptune.

So what I do like about this new
moon, you want to utilize this energy.

So again, we're not looking for the
astrology to make something happen.

The planets don't do things.

People do things.

We harness the energy and we utilize it.

And you're listening to this podcast
so that you can dictate your fate.

You can harness that energy and put it
in a direction that you want to amplify

into a place that you want to grow.

there are lots of people Out there
that are, you know, not conscious.

And so they're experiencing this
energy and they're growing things

that maybe they don't want to grow.

so we saw that with this.

bombing happening in Iran and all the
things happening in the Middle East

right now, and we see war growing.

There was something I saw
about, are we in World War III

and we don't even know it yet.

That would be quite neptunian,
because Neptune is the fog,

Neptune is illusions and delusions.

So there is growth in parts of
the world that we don't wanna see.

There is suffering that is growing.

We do not wanna see that.

So again, astrology is not
inherently good or bad.

It's neutral energy, and we are
harnessing it for our own purposes.

And you're listening to this
podcast so that you can harness

it for positive purposes in your
own life and for your community.

So the New Moon conjunct Jupiter,
squaring Saturn, Neptune, and Aries.

What I will say is that with all
those planets and cardinal signs,

cancer being the cardinal water sign,
Aries being the cardinal fire sign,

there's a feeling of initiation.

There's a feeling of
starting of a fresh start.

So regardless of everything I just
said, myth busting, everything else

that you're seeing on Instagram or
TikTok, I do love this new moon.

There is a feeling of freshness.

There is a feeling of whatever you
are putting your energy toward.

With this new Moon, we'll be growing
and evolving not only the next four

weeks, not only the next nine months
until the first quarter Moon in cancer

that is associated with this New Moon.

Based on the methodology I recommend,

But also for the next three years,
because as I said, if you look at the

Lunar family, this will take us to
the New Moon three years from now.

So think about what you want to be growing
and evolving over the next three years.

We just got our school schedule for
my son and he's starting preschool

in September, which is wild.

And.

It was so exciting to receive that.

I received it Monday and the sun
was of course, squaring Neptune, and

it was very much that feeling of,
oh my God, this is what the next.

Few years of our life is gonna be
like, because he's starting preschool.

He'll be in preschool for three years
before he goes into kindergarten.

So you know, he's starting
in the twos program.

Then next year will be the threes and
then it'll be the fours, and then when

he's five, he'll go to kindergarten.

And I was thinking, oh my goodness, here
we are, new moon and cancer is arriving.

We have the sun squaring these.

Planet's newly in Aries.

This is a new three year cycle and
for the first time I'm sitting here

looking at a school schedule and
quickly realize that there are a

lot of days that he's gonna be off.

So, you know, just taking in that
we are preparing for a new phase

of life and that phase of life
will be happening for three years.

And so think about in your
own life what will be.

Happening for the next three years.

Where do you want your energy
and your focus and your time

and your resources to be spent?

And it should be somewhere where you
want growth, where you want abundance,

where you want to be invested.

the other thing about this New Moon is
that it also bringing in the energy of

this yod, so yods are fingers of God.

They're also cons.

They're often considered fated, and.

That means that there's something
in the chart that's being looked

at that's being pointed at, and the
universe really wants us to move

toward it in some way, shape, or form.

This new moon with Jupiter,
because they're operating as one,

the sun, the moon, and Jupiter,
we're all together on Tuesday.

At Four Degrees Cancer, so you know that
if you have anything at Four Degrees

Cancer or Four Degrees Aries or Libra, or
Capricorn, those are the cardinal signs.

Then this New Moon was
pretty profound for you.

The New Moon and Jupiter.

Were in a textile to Mars in
Virgo Mars, newly in Virgo.

This is also a fresh feeling, Mars,
because as I said last week, we had

Mars stuck in cancer and Leo since
last September, which was a crazy long.

He had a crazy long retrograde,
which means that he was stuck in the

same signs for a really long time.

So we finally have Mars
feeling fresh, feeling good.

He's excited to get things organized.

He's excited to put some
new systems in place.

And the New Moon with Jupiter is working
with that Mars, which is really nice.

So if you need to work on your
schedule, if you need to work on

creating some new systems, if you
need to organize yourself, great New

Moon to set an intention around that.

But the New Moon and Jupiter, along
with Mars are both making what we call

an in conjunct or a Quin ConX to Pluto.

So Pluto is what that finger
of God is pointing at.

Pluto is an Aquarius.

I talked about it a ton last year.

We had Pluto move into
Aquarius in November and.

Day there since 2022, he's been going
back and forth Aquarius, back to

Capricorn, and then into Aquarius again.

We finally have Pluto in Aquarius,
and he's getting activated by

this new Moon and by this Mars.

And so Pluto and Aquarius is at
the beginning of a 20 year journey.

He is helping us figure out what is
humanity going to look like in 20 years?

How is AI and technology
going to impact our society?

How do we want to use AI and technology?

These are questions that we're
asking with Pluto and Aquarius.

'cause Aquarius associated
with technology, it's also

associated with, humanities.

Social activism, revolutions and
rebels, people rising up, people joining

together to be a source of power.

Pluto was an Aquarius during
the French Revolution.

We see a lot of themes happening in
modern day America that are very similar.

Pluto was also an Aquarius during our
American Revolution, so the American

Revolution was still going on.

When Pluto entered Aquarius, it didn't.

Finish until Pluto is at
eight degrees Aquarius.

So we are still in our
Pluto return as a country.

I really feel like I'm getting in the
weeds today, but the New Moon is just

touching on all these very intense things.

And so one of the reasons I think that
this New Moon does feel so potent,

does feel very powerful is because
it is touching so many of these.

Outer planets in the chart that are in new
signs and creating new cycles and We are

in the process of creating new patterns.

So the things that you're doing right
now are going to create new grooves.

New patterns that you fall into,
that you get used to, not just you

personally, but also collectively.

That's why we have to be very, very
aware and conscious and cognizant

of how we are taking in information,
what information we're believing.

We're seeing a lot of deep fakes and AI
generated images and videos, particularly

when it comes to current events,
particularly when it comes to the Middle

East, particularly when it comes to what's
going on in this country in terms of

immigration and people being kidnapped
and disappeared without due process.

So we have to be very careful about the
information that we're taking in, where

we're getting that information and.

How we spread that information.

So all of those things are themes
that we're working with with Pluto

in Aquarius, this new Moon along
with Mars creating that finger of

God pointing at Pluto and saying,

the things you're doing right now,
the intentions you're setting, where

you're placing your energy, it will be.

something that directs towards
your transformation in this 20

year cycle of Pluton Aquarius,

we don't necessarily know how
it's gonna turn out, right?

We don't have complete control
because other people do things right.

We live in a world where we are in
relationships to other people, and

we not only set intentions and go out
and make good on them, we also respond

and react to what other people do.

And the choices that they make.

So we don't have complete
control, but we know that

Pluto is a planet that brings
into the field of consciousness,

this idea of control and power,
as well as the abuse of power.

So knowing that, knowing that we're
working with, this new Moon in cancer,

early degrees of cancer squaring
Saturn and Neptune, and early degrees

of Aries, this is a new start.

This is a fresh start, and what
you put your mind and energy and

resources into at this time will have.

A lasting, and perhaps one might say faded

impact on this journey with Pluto
and Aquarius over the next 20 years.

So you are in this moment
crafting your destiny.

You are dictating your fate.

So choose wisely, be mindful and.

Don't let that be a burden,
let that be a privilege.

Sometimes when the astrology is
like this, we can be like, oh my

God, I wanna make the right choice.

I don't wanna mess up.

All the experiences that we have in
our life are helpful in our path of

growth, and the only thing you can do is.

Pay close attention to the
messages that you're getting.

Do your best to tune into your intuition
and make the best next right step.

And that's all we can do.

That's all any of us can do.

Because we're not working.

We don't know the future.

We're not working with a crystal ball.

So.

That is what I have to
say about the New Moon.

I wanted to also just mention that as
we move through the week on Thursday,

the 26th, that's today actually,
we have, mercury moving into Leo.

So Mercury will be leaving
cancer and entering Leo.

So what's nice about this
is that Mercury in Leo, it.

Helps us speak from a place of passion.

It is playful, it is social.

It wants to have a good
time, it wants to be seen.

So this is nice going into the summer.

It's a good Mercury, and Leo is, it's
time to have a little bit of fun.

Mercury and cancer expresses itself
through feelings and Mercury and

Leo expresses itself through I.

Passion.

And excitement, also feelings, but
just more exuberant, more expressive.

So that is fun.

And then we have Mercury making a
trine to Neptune on Saturday, which

is really nice for creative endeavors.

So if you have some time on
Saturday to be creative, whatever

creative means to you, that is
gonna be a good day to lean into it.

So if you're a writer, right?

If you're a dancer, dance, if
you feel creative when you.

go for a nice walk, then go for a nice
walk, whatever it is, getting in the bath.

If that's where you feel your
creative spark, then get in

the bath, whatever it is.

But Mercury is in Leo.

The fixed fire sign, Neptune is in
Aries, the Cardinal fire sign, I.

Very passionate.

So follow what excites
you on Saturday the 28th.

On Sunday the 29th, we will have
Mercury again in Leo opposite Pluto.

Mercury opposite Pluto is great for
strategic work, so if you've gotta

sit down and figure something out,
so great day for working on a puzzle.

It's a great day for working on something
that you just, you gotta kind of.

Get into and figure out and get underneath
it and understand all the parts.

That can be helpful early next
week as we move to the 30th.

On the first we have, the moon
going from Virgo to Libra rather.

And then the moon will oppose that.

Saturn and Neptune newly in Aries.

so we'll be feeling that Saturn, Neptune
on Tuesday, Canada Day, happy Canada

Day to all our Canadian listeners.

and then I'll be back,
next week to talk more.

There's not a ton going on next week
until we get to July 4th weekend actually,

where there's a lot happening on July 4th.

pattern of recording on Wednesday
and getting it up Thursday this week.

I'm recording on Thursday, getting it up.

Hopefully today, Thursday,
and this was a long one.

I did a lot of rambling.

hasn't been working for me in my own

life to get it out on those days.

Make sure you're on the email list.
