Veronica Perretti [00:00:00]:
Hello and welcome back to the Essential Astrocast. I am your host, Veronica Peretti. This is the podcast that you tune into to find out what's going on in the heavens so that you can dictate your fate down here on Earth. This is a busy week. There is a lot happening and it's really jam packed into the weekend. The main thing is Mars opposite Pluto. Mars is a planet that is go, go, go. It shows up, bangs down the door, lets you know that it's there.
Veronica Perretti [00:00:36]:
Mars is currently in cancer, where he will be for a very long time. He will go into LEO soon and then drift back into Cancer because he will retrograde. We'll talk about the Mars retrograde a little bit more in the coming weeks as we get closer to it. I think I'm gonna do an actual bonus episode just on Mars retrograde. But this is gonna be one of the most intense weeks, one of the most intense transits that we experience all year. And of course, it happens right before election day. So Mars opposite. When we look at Mars, we look at anger, frustration, rage, masculine energy.
Veronica Perretti [00:01:27]:
When we look at Pluto, we look at what's going on below the surface. We look at grudges, we look at hidden potential. We look at focus strategy. Pluto is associated with the underworld. Pluto is associated with destruction for the sake of transformation, for the sake of rebirth. So Pluto transits are always really hard, but they change us. They force us to go through the thing and then rebirth ourselves. And in that way, Pluto transits really teach us about our own ability to be resilient.
Veronica Perretti [00:02:13]:
And the theme that I kept coming back to for this week was we're growing in our capacity and our resilience. So many people that I've been talking to this week are like, oh my God, I feel like I have so much on my plate. And then somehow one more thing gets piled on. There's that feeling of so much heavy burden of responsibility. And then just when you think you've met your threshold, it's like you got that one more thing put on your plate. So we're all being challenged to increase our capacity and to prove how resilient we truly are. And Pluto is a force that forces us to be resilient. Mars office of Pluto is tough.
Veronica Perretti [00:03:06]:
This was one of the things I talked about in my workshop for the year ahead. In January every year, I do this workshop where I look at all the astrology for the year ahead, and I tune you into whatever is going to be the big notable things. And one of the big notable things that I talked about was Mars opposite Pluto. Mars is opposing Pluto while Mars is at 29 degree Cancer and Pluto is at 29 degrees Capricorn. The last degree of a sign, 29 degrees, is where things reach a crisis point. So there's a feeling of, if I don't do this now, I'll never get to do it. Or there's no turning back, I've got to go forward. Or if I don't finish this now, I'll never finish it.
Veronica Perretti [00:03:52]:
If I don't let this go now, I'll have it with me forever. There's just a very dramatic energy to 29 degrees. So having two of the fiercest planets face off in an opposition to one another at 29 degrees, it's just intense. And they're in cardinal signs. Cardinal signs are the signs that initiate the seasons. Cancer, Capricorn, Aries, Libra. They move energy. They make things happen.
Veronica Perretti [00:04:21]:
So having Mars opposite Pluto 29 degrees of these carnal signs, it's making something happen. Mars is also not that happy in Cancer. He's exalted in Capricorn and is not so happy in Cancer. So when he's in Cancer, he's a little passive aggressive. He doesn't really know how to express himself the way he normally would. Normally Mars is like, hey, this is what I think I'm going to tell you. I don't like that in Cancer. He's like, I don't like how you said that.
Veronica Perretti [00:04:53]:
So now I'm gonna be passive aggressive and mopey and I'm gonna hit you where it hurts, but you're not gonna see it coming. You know, it's kind of that ugh, energy that just is exhausting. And unfortunately, we're working with this for quite a while because of Mars retrograde journey. So he's gonna go into Leo on Sunday. Then when he retrogrades, he will head back into Cancer. So we'll be working with Mars in Cancer through the spring, and that means we'll be working with this Mars opposite Pluto off and on through the spring. So pay attention to how you're feeling right now and how you're being asked to show up and what you're being asked to handle, because we're gonna revisit these themes. Now, the good news is that with Mars, you often feel the transits as you lead up to them, and then they dissipate pretty quickly.
Veronica Perretti [00:05:56]:
With Pluto, you tend to feel the transits like the first hit is generally the hardest. So hopefully this is the toughest. And then once we move through the winter and through the retrograde, we'll be putting the pieces back together and not so much on the end of feeling like everything is getting pulled apart. So right now, you might feel like everything is kind of falling apart or being pulled apart, but that always makes space for putting things back together in a more beautiful way. So I'm totally going to mess this up. So this transit reminds me of this idea behind the Japanese method of repairing pottery. Kintsugi literally means gold seams. When a piece of pottery falls apart, the potter will repair it by taking the broken or chipped parts and glue them back together and then paint it with gold.
Veronica Perretti [00:07:01]:
And it becomes this really beautiful thing that has been broken in a way that, you know, no one can break something in an intentional way. And then these seams are unintentional, but organic and beautiful. And so the idea of this, you know, method is that it is a symbol for taking your challenges, adversity and something broken and turning it into something that is beautiful and a symbol of resilience. And so that is kind of how I feel about this Mars Pluto opposition and how we're going to be playing with this energy until spring. How is it going to feel for you? It's going to feel volatile. It might feel like some really deep desires come up. Now, I'm really focusing on the negative here, but the true truth is that this can be a springboard, a spark, an ignition. It really can be something that lights you up.
Veronica Perretti [00:08:08]:
So this might be something that lights you up creatively. And if this is activating your chart in a positive way, you might find that you feel so inspired by this. Passion is going to run really deep this week. Anger and grudges are going to run really deep this week. Pluto rules the things that are hiding underneath the surface. So if you have some old grudges or trauma that gets triggered, which it probably will, with Mars opposite Pluto, it's going to come up. You might end up having a fight with your partner or a friend. And it's actually not about what you're fighting about.
Veronica Perretti [00:08:39]:
You know, it's about some resentment that you're holding onto. Avoid trying to force someone or control a situation that you can't control or push others to do what you want them to do, because all of those things are gonna backfire. The controlling and the wanting to have the power is Pluto. But Mars is the fight. Anytime you try to exert your control over someone else, over something that can be controlled, you're gonna get a kickback from Mars. So just Know that this is a week to take a lot of deep breaths and to avoid anything or anyone that triggers you and to stay with your energy, take care of your energy before you come to the situation, before you come to the con. There's gonna be a strong desire for forcing your own agenda with Mars opposite Pluto. But oppositions require us to give and take.
Veronica Perretti [00:09:33]:
Oppositions are like two people looking at each other from either side of the table. Have you ever watch any of those shows like Bridgerton, which I love? You might see the king and the queen having dinner at this very long table and each of them is sitting at either head. That's what I think of when I think of an opposition. You're far away from each other but sitting at the same table. So there's an opportunity for negotiation, for meeting in the middle. Oppositions come with the opportunity to negotiate and find some place to meet in the middle. So there's going to be some give and take. And if you try to control, get your way and not give anything, you are going to get the kickback.
Veronica Perretti [00:10:22]:
So remember that this is a week for negotiating and coming to the table with something to offer. Luckily, there's lots of communication happening before we get to Mars opposite Pluto. Mercury is at the end of Scorpio and he's talking to everybody on Wednesday the 30th, which is when I'm recording this. Mercury is opposite Uranus. This means that some unexpected occurrences might pop up. I'm recording this at the end of the day. You've probably already experienced something unexpected. Keep your eyes peeled for that.
Veronica Perretti [00:11:00]:
Mercury opposite Uranus can make us feel anxious. Personally, to me, today I just felt a little, a little off and of course, had some unexpected things come up that I had to deal with. Thursday, Halloween, it couldn't be better. We have this perfect Halloween energy going on. We're at the end of the Moon cycle. We're approaching the new Moon. So we're in the dark of the Moon. We have Mercury in Scorpio trining Neptune, which is the planet of the subconscious and dreams and the spirit realm.
Veronica Perretti [00:11:32]:
So it's like Mercury's helping you communicate with the others, communicate with your spirit guides, communicate with your loved ones that have passed on. It couldn't be more perfect for Halloween. I love that. And the Moon will be in Scorpio after 1:29pm Eastern Time. By the time you're going out to trick or treat or go to a party, you will have the Moon in the same sign as the Sun. Scorpio finishing up his Moon cycle. So one caveat is that at the end of the moon cycle, this is the time for release. This is the time for letting go.
Veronica Perretti [00:12:11]:
This is the time for saying, I'm done with this, I don't need this. And moving on. I took a shower and I used some of my dead sea salt because it's just cleansing to do a sea salt bath or a sea salt shower, Epsom salt shower before the new moon. So optimal time for cleansing and releasing as we move toward the new moon. Once we get to the New Moon at 9 degrees Scorpio on Friday, the new moon comes with a grand trine in water and that opposition of Mars opposite Pluto. Cause Mars is part of the grand trine, it creates a kite. And that means that the grand trine in water is going to help us have those negotiations. Thanks to Mars opposite Pluto, these three planets are at late degrees of the water signs.
Veronica Perretti [00:13:09]:
Mercury, Mars and Neptune. It means that we're all gonna be feeling. It's gonna be easier to feel into your intuition. It's gonna be easier to be in your emotions. That also might mean that emotions and feelings are really overwhelming. Grand Trines are generally considered blessings, but it also means there's a lot of something when there's a Grange trine in water, there's a lot of emotion. I know that I've been feeling super emotional this week. I'm sure many of you are too.
Veronica Perretti [00:13:39]:
We don't need astrology to know that this is going to be an emotional week, right? But this grand trine from a positive perspective will help us come to those negotiations between Mars and Pluto with heart, with our passion, with hopefully some empathy and some compassion. The Venus opposite Jupiter is also adding to this because Venus opposite Jupiter will occur on someday and that will just make everything feel more expansive. Venus opposite Jupiter just makes everything bigger. And normally that's a blessing. So again, the grand trine, it's a blessing. Venus opposite Jupiter, it's a blessing. Sometimes when we have these harmonious planets talking to each other or we have planets in harmonious aspect, it can also bring a lot. So if there's just a lot of something, whether it's emotion, whether it's stuff, whether it's even a lot of abundance, even a lot of good stuff, even a lot of love, there are times where that can feel overwhelming and like too much.
Veronica Perretti [00:14:47]:
So it's okay if you feel that. Know what you need to do. Know if you need to take a moment for yourself. Know if you needed to go take a nap and be by yourself. And close the door. Give yourself space this weekend to take care of yourself, whatever that means for you personally. One other piece that I forgot to mention is that Mercury will trine Mars on Saturday. And that might be useful for lending some strategy to your communication.
Veronica Perretti [00:15:21]:
Since we're in this tense negotiation, having Mercury work with Mars, who is opposite Pluto, that might be a helpful way of phrasing what you're phrasing to work with the person that you're working with. All I could think about when I looked at all this astrology was, oh my gosh, all those people canvassing, all those people volunteering for the campaigns and trying to get voters. There's a lot of communication, a lot of frustration, a lot of anger. Even today I went out to mail my last batch of postcards to voters trying to get out the vote for down ballot Democrats in New York state. And on my way to the post office, I saw someone with an incendiary thing on the back of their truck. And I, my protective reflexes went up and I wanted to run up beside him and be like, that's so disrespectful. You're only putting that on your truck because Kamala Harris is a woman. And then I thought to myself, what is going on for that person that they feel the need to put that out into the world to clearly make other people angry at them? And so the grand trine in water, working with this Mars opposite Pluto hopefully gives us a little bit of compassion, a little bit of empathy in those moments when we want to be angry or be abrasive with someone else.
Veronica Perretti [00:17:04]:
So I'm trying to tone down my language for the sake of the podcast, but you got the idea, okay? So I know you're gonna wanna know, so I'm gonna jump to election day and tell you what the astrology looks like there. On Monday the 4th, we will have the sun trining Saturn. I like this because it's stabilizing the sun in Scorpio, trining Saturn in Pisces, they're both in water. Sun trine Saturn is a stabilizing energy in water. Maybe it doesn't feel so stabilizing, but it certainly means that we are working on something that is going to have long legs. So whatever you're working on, whatever you're illuminating, whatever you're bringing light to sun, of course it'll grow over many seasons because Saturn likes to invest in things that grow over many seasons. Not interested in a quick buck. It's interested in slow, steady growth over a long time.
Veronica Perretti [00:18:06]:
On Tuesday, Election day, the moon enters Capricorn. I like this for election day because the moon, even though the moon doesn't love being in Capricorn, the moon in Earth signs is going to be more orderly. It's going to make people a little more practical, it's going to encourage rule following. So some of those things I really like. And it's answering Saturn and we know Saturn is in Pisces, but still there's a sense of order when we are working with Earth signs and when we're working with Saturn ruled signs. I also like that because Kamala Harris has a lot of cardinal energy in her chart. So having the moon in Capricorn, another cardinal sign, there's an initiating energy to cardinal signs. And being that she's a very cardinal sign person, I just feel like that is good vibes for her.
Veronica Perretti [00:19:06]:
If you haven't listened to it yet. I did a bonus episode on Kamala Harris solar return chart and a little bit of the election astrology, so you can go back and check that out. More bonus episodes coming in the weeks ahead about different things. I think I'm gonna do one for Mars retrograde, talk about Mars and cancer more. I think we'll do some other ones that are politically themed once we get closer to the end of the year, closer to inauguration, et cetera. So stay tuned for that. If you have a friend who would enjoy this podcast, please share this with them. So there's usually a share button in whatever podcast feed you're using, whether it's Apple or Spotify, et cetera, go press that share button and text this podcast to someone in your life that would appreciate it.
Veronica Perretti [00:20:01]:
It would mean the world to me. And that's how more people find the show. All right, so I will talk to you next week. Until then, do what you need to do to take care of yourself. Drink enough water, eat enough food, go to bed early, don't look at the polls. You know, all the important stuff. I'll talk to you then. Bye.
